Family grieving loss attributed to ‘COVID psychosis’ – WJW FOX 8 News Cleveland

by: Ben Bradley, Nexstar Media Wire Posted: Mar 4, 2021 / 10:06 PM EST / Updated: Mar 4, 2021 / 10:06 PM EST MORRIS, Ill. (WGN) – A family is grieving a loss as painful as it is surprising. They believe 48-year-old father Ben Price took his own life after developing a rare and little understood phenomenon called “COVID psychosis.” The married father of two was a farmer and business owner in Morris, Illinois, southwest of the Chicago metro area. In February, he contracted COVID-19 after riding in a car with others to Bible study. Obesity ‘second greatest predictor’ of hospitalization for COVID-19, report says “He would have never left us,” widow Jennifer Price said. “Our Ben would never have left us. And that’s what we w...

TCM Puts Classic Films ‘Breakfast At Tiffany’s’, ‘Tarzan’, ‘Psycho’, ‘GWTW’ And More Under Microscope For Offensive Content – Deadline

It seems we are living through a phase of so-called “cancel culture” these days. Just this week, Dr. Seuss Enterprises announced it will no longer publish six lesser-known books by the famed children’s author due to offensive and racist depictions. Mr. Potato Head is now non-gender. Some episodes of The Muppet Show has special warning labels on Disney+. Aunt Jemima is KO’d on the syrup shelves. In a sweeping wave of reassessing cultural images we have grown up with in our American life, a new and more sensitive spotlight is being presented on the way we view the past through the prism of a more politically correct 2021. In that regard, Turner Classic Movies (TCM), the WarnerMedia-owned cable channel dedicated to the loving presentation of Hollywood’s cinema...

Meghan and Harry should quit whining instead of complaining to Oprah – New York Post

Settling down in front of the TV Sunday night, I’ll be playing a drinking game with virtual pals during the much-hyped Prince Harry and Meghan Markle interview with Oprah Winfrey. “Tabloids.” Shot! “Nightmare.” Shot! “Queen and abuse.” Shot and shot! Trouble is, as the former royals bemoan their lot, it’ll take less than 10 minutes to slide off the sofa drunk. Judging from the trailers CBS has released of the two-hour special — set to a movie-like soundtrack of soaring violins — the clap-trap uttered by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex is just another ridiculous pity party. Pass the sick bucket. Meghan’s complaints about Buckingham Palace expecting them to stay “silent,” that the Windsors “perpetuated falsehoods about her and Harry” and other assorted b...

Hilaria Baldwin opened up on social media about the birth of her sixth child, a daughter named María Lucia. On Thursday, the 37-year-old fitness instructor penned a lengthy message about the newborn, who arrived five months after she and husband Alec Baldwin welcomed their fifth child, a son named Eduardo "Edu" Pao Lucas. "Our hearts are filled with so much gratitude. The Baldwinitos craved so much to have a little sister," Baldwin wrote. "Many of you may remember the loss of their sister at 4 months in the end of 2019. There isn't a day that goes by where we don't ache for our daughter. When I found out our baby had died, I told our children that their sister was going to come, just not at that time." "Nothing will ever replace her, but two wonderful souls have come into our lives, a...

Ivermectin Does Not Alleviate Mild Covid-19 Symptoms, Study Finds – The New York Times

Ivermectin, a controversial anti-parasitic drug that has been touted as a potential Covid-19 treatment, does not speed recovery in people with mild cases of the disease, according to a randomized controlled trial published on Thursday in the journal JAMA. Ivermectin is typically used to treat parasitic worms in both people and animals, but scientific evidence for its efficacy against the coronavirus is thin. Some studies have indicated that the drug can prevent several different viruses from replicating in cells. And last year, researchers in Australia found that high doses of ivermectin suppressed SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes Covid-19, in cell cultures. Such findings had spurred use of the drug against Covid-19, especially in Latin America. “Ivermectin is currently being used ...

Meghan denied the claims, calling them the “latest attack on her character” in a statement on Wednesday. Many on Twitter couldn’t agree more and didn’t hesitate to point out what appeared to be a double standard: While Meghan will be scrutinized over the accusations, the many sexual abuse allegations against Prince Andrew have been overlooked by the royal family.

The Conversation Why white supremacists and QAnon enthusiasts are obsessed – but very wrong – about the Byzantine Empire Inspiration for a mob of angry white men? Getty ImagesFrom Charlottesville to the Capitol, medieval imagery has been repeatedly on show at far-right rallies and riots in recent years. Displays of Crusader shields and tattoos derived from Norse and Celtic symbols are of little surprise to medieval historians like me who have long documented the appropriation of the Middle Ages by today’s far right. But amid all the expected Viking imagery and nods to the Crusaders has been another dormant “medievalism” that has yet to be fully acknowledged in reporting on both the far right and conspiracy theorist movements: the Byzantine Empire. Byzantium – or more properly, the medieva...
