Bruno Mars Responds to Cultural Appropriation Claims: This Music Comes From Love – Yahoo Entertainment

The Bruno Mars cultural appropriation debate has been taking place over the last several years with critics accusing the singer of using his racial ambiguity to cross into genres that are historically Black. The Grammy-winning artist addressed the claims during a recent Breakfast Club interview alongside his Silk Sonic partner, Anderson .Paak.  “People love to accuse you of being a cultural thief, which I find interesting because you are a person of color,” host Charlamagne the God said to Bruno (21:50). “What would you say to those people?” Bruno explained that he has always given credit to the funk, R&B, and pop artists who came before him and insisted there was nothing but love behind his material. “I would say: You can’t look at an interview, you can’t find an interview wh...

County Surpasses 1 Million COVID-19 Vaccinations – countynewscenter.com

More than a million doses of the COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in the region, the County Health and Human Services Agency reported today. Of those vaccinated to date, more than 319,000, or nearly 12 percent of San Diegans 16 and older, are fully immunized. A total of 619,924 people, or 23.1 percent, have received at least one dose of the two-dose regimen. “We are making great progress in vaccinating San Diegans but it is too soon to let our guard down,” said Wilma J. Wooten, M.D., M.P.H., County public health officer. “Herd immunity does not occur until at least 70 percent of the population 16 and older is fully vaccinated and we have a ways to go before we can get back to many of the things we miss.” The region’s vaccination efforts are slowed by shortages in vacci...

Meghan Markles Oprah interview is danger to royal family, experts say – Page Six

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s hotly-anticipated interview with Oprah Winfrey could deal a major blow to the British monarchy — far worse than Prince Andrew’s disastrous sit-down amid the Jeffrey Epstein saga, royal experts say. Author Pauline Maclaran said she believes that Prince Andrew’s infamous interview about his friendship with the late convicted pedophile Epstein would pale in comparison to the upcoming duke and duchess’s CBS special. “I think it’s a bigger danger than the Prince Andrew car-crash interview,” Maclaran told The Associated Press of the Oprah sit-down. “I think that Meghan is going to get a lot of sympathy, particularly from American audiences, about her position being untenable,” Maclaran said. Maclaran, author of “Royal Fever:...
