SUPERMAN & LOIS Series Premiere Review; “The Epic SUPERMAN Series Weve Been Waiting For” – CBM (Comic Book Movie)

Well, we certainly weren't expecting that. It's fair to say that we've grown used to a certain tone from The CW's DC TV shows, with the titular superhero surrounded by love interests, mentors, goofy allies (here's looking at you, Cisco), and a rinse-and-repeat weekly villain with a big bad waiting in the wings to be defeated in the finale. It remains to be seen whether Superman & Lois succumbs to those familiar, clichéd trappings, but as of right now, this series premiere points to the network moving on from the Arrow-formula, and delivering a cinematic, exciting new take on the Man of Steel.  After a fantastic recap bringing us up to speed with the history of the post-Crisis on Infinite Earths Superman, we pick up with Clark Kent, Lois Lane, and their two teenage sons in Metropolis....

Princess Diana would be furious at Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, longtime friend says – Fox News

A longtime confidante of Princess Diana doesn’t believe she would be at all happy with her son Prince Harry or his wife, Meghan Markle.  On Friday, Buckingham Palace confirmed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will not be returning to their duties as members of the royal family. The announcement came a little more than a year after Harry, 36, and Markle, 39, announced that they would be taking a "step back" as senior royals for a one-year review period.  Fashion designer Roberto Devorik, who was a close friend of Diana prior to her death in 1997 at age 36, believes the late princess would be "furious" with Harry over his fallout with the family and likely at odds with Markle for contributing to the divide. Speaking to Hola! Magazine, Devorik explains that Diana’s greatest wish was to...

FDA analysis finds Johnson & Johnsons single-dose COVID-19 vaccine protects against virus – WBAL Baltimore

Johnson & Johnson’s single-dose vaccine protects against COVID-19, according to an analysis by U.S. regulators Wednesday that sets the stage for a final decision on a new and easier-to-use shot to help tame the pandemic. The Food and Drug Administration’s scientists confirmed that overall the vaccine is about 66% effective at preventing moderate to severe COVID-19. The agency also said J&J's shot — one that could help speed vaccinations by requiring just one dose instead of two — is safe to use. That’s just one step in the FDA’s evaluation of a third vaccine option for the U.S. On Friday, the agency’s independent advisers will debate if the evidence is strong enough to recommend the long-anticipated shot. Armed with that advice, FDA is expected to make a final decision within ...

Covid live updates: CVS to offer vaccines in six more states; stay-at-home DIY trend could ease – CNBC

The United States is set to see a substantial boost in Covid-19 vaccines shipped out and ready to administer in the coming weeks. Executives from Pfizer and Moderna told Congress on Tuesday the drugmakers are preparing to nearly double their current output. And on Wednesday, Food and Drug Administration staff endorsed Johnson & Johnson's one-shot vaccine, clearing the path for an emergency use authorization as soon as this week. A J&J executive said once the drug is authorized, the company would be ready to ship more than 20 million doses by the end of March. The U.S. is recording at least 71,500 new Covid-19 cases and at least 2,030 virus-related deaths each day, based on a seven-day average calculated by CNBC using Johns Hopkins University data. The following data was ...

For Some Teens, It’s Been a Year of Anxiety and Trips to the E.R. – The New York Times

Dr. Rachel Stanley, the chief of emergency medicine at Nationwide, said that most hospitals have far fewer resources. “I worked at a hospital in Michigan for years, and when these kinds of kids come in, everyone dreaded seeing them, because we didn’t feel like we had the tools to help,” she said. “They have to go into a safe room; they can’t be in a shared area. You have to provide a sitter for the child, a staff person to stay with them all the time to make sure they’re not suicidal or homicidal. It could take hours and hours to get social workers involved, and all this time they’re getting worse.” Anne, the consultant in the Bay Area, said that her son’s visit to the emergency room this month was his third in the past 18 months, each time for issues related to drug withdrawal. On one vi...
