New Study Suggests Apple Watch Heart Rate Sensor Can Predict COVID-19 Up to a Week Before a Swab Test – MacRumors

A new study by Mount Sinai researchers has found that an Apple Watch can effectively predict a positive COVID-19 diagnosis up to a week before current PCR-based nasal swab tests (via TechCrunch). Published in the peer-reviewed Journal of Medical Internet Research, the " Warrior Watch Study" involved several hundred Mount Sinai healthcare workers using a dedicated Apple Watch and iPhone app for personal health data monitoring and collection. All participants were also required to fill out a daily survey over several months to provide direct feedback about potential coronavirus symptoms and other factors, including stress. The data collection ran from April through September, and the main point of focus for researchers was heart rate variability (HRV), a key indicator of strain o...

She said she was fatigued, short of breath, and had a headache, heart palpitations and a fever of 103 degrees Fahrenheit. Her oxygen level dipped to 94%. Borger, who is 50 and suffers from chronic bronchitis, said her lungs felt like a "weapon" when she walked down the stairs or even had a shower. It took almost two weeks before it didn't hurt to breathe, she said. It's been more than a month since her diagnosis, and she still isn't fully recovered. Despite her suffering, she still won't get a Covid-19 vaccine shot. "I'm not a...

Craig Ferguson’s Monologue Defending Britney Spears From 2007 Resurfaces Amid #FreeBritney Movement – Deadline

Craig Ferguson may be no Chris Crocker, but the Peabody-winning television host recently went viral for defending Britney Spears during an opening monologue from 2007. In the old Late Late Show clip, Ferguson asks for sympathy and understanding for the pop singer as she publicly went through a rough patch. From shaving her head to checking into rehab, the “Toxic” singer became the subject of jokes and grabby headlines for all forms of media. “I’m starting to feel uncomfortable making fun of these people,” he said. “Comedy should have a certain amount of joy in it. It should be about us attacking the powerful people, attacking the politicians and the Trumps and the blowhards, going after them. We shouldn’t be attacking the vulnerable people.” Ferguson continues: “I think ...

Diabetes symptoms: Sign in your legs of high blood sugar – the pain you shouldnt ignore – Express

Diabetes is a common condition that affects around five million people in the UK. But a lot of people may not even know that they have diabetes. You could be at risk if you develop a subtle pain in your legs. Diabetes is a life-long condition, and 90 percent of all cases are caused by type 2 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is where the body struggles to produce enough of the hormone insulin. Insulin helps the body to convert sugar in the blood into useable energy. But if your body isn't getting enough insulin, the amount of sugar in your blood starts to rise, which can lead to diabetes. The Golden Age of the Golden-Brown Cheesecake

More than two years ago, the journalist, recipe writer, and longtime friend of TASTE G. Daniela Galarza came to us with the idea to write about cheesecake: one that was dense like the iconic New York style but aesthetically antithetical to Diddy’s favorite slice from Junior’s. The Basque-style cheesecake that Galarza covered in her story, “Spain’s Burnt Cheesecake Breaks All the Rules,” most certainly makes good on that promise. In contrast to the porcelain-white, fruit-topped cheesecakes you may know from Manhattan diners, this one is instead crowned with a layer of burn (and sometimes surrounded by a fan of charred parchment paper). The browned exterior tastes like salted caramel, but inside, you’ll find a supersoft center that “puddles on the pl...
