California official calls for pause on Moderna vaccine lot after possible allergic reaction – Fox News

Dr. Erica S. Pan, the California epidemiologist, issued a statement Sunday recommending a pause in the distribution of a specific lot of Moderna vaccine after "fewer than 10 individuals required medical attention over the span of 24 hours." She said the Moderna Lot 041L20A is in question, but she insisted that she called for the pause "out of an extreme abundance of caution," according to Fox 11. The report said that more than 330,000 doses from the lot have already been distributed throughout the state to 287 providers. Fox 5 San Diego reported that the California Department of Public Health said fewer than 10 people appeared to be experiencing "a possible severe allergic reaction during the standard observation period." Harvard physicist makes case on how Oumuamu could have been an alien spacecraft – Fox News

A physicist has weighed in on the mystery surrounding the interstellar object 'Oumuamua,' which flew past Earth back in 2017 at an unusually high speed. Harvard professor Avi Loeb remarked during an interview with Salon that it's possible the fast, cigar-shaped object was an interstellar spacecraft.  "At first, astronomers assumed it must be a comet, because these are the objects that are most loosely bound to stars," Loeb said. "The problem with that was there was no cometary tail." Loeb wrote a book on the topic, titled: "Extraterrestrial: The First Sign of Intelligent Life Beyond Earth." The book is set to be released next week.  NASA TEST FOR 'MOST POWERFUL ROCKET IN THE WORLD' HAS COMPONENT FAILURE An artist's rendering of 'Oumuamua, a visitor from outside the solar sy...

When Disaster Strikes, Local Farms Step Up

Early last year, when COVID-19 began to tear through the United States, creating fissures in our food systems and wreaking havoc on our grocery stores, Leah Penniman knew exactly what to do. The founding codirector of Soul Fire Farms, located in Petersburg, New York, had spent the past decade developing sustainable ways to produce and deliver fresh fruits, vegetables, eggs, and other groceries directly to the doorsteps of communities in nearby Albany.
