Nasal spray that blocks COVID-19 could be available by summer: report – New York Post

A nasal spray that can prevent COVID-19 for up to two days has been developed by researchers in the UK – and it may be available over the counter by the summer, according to a report. The spray — developed by scientists at the University of Birmingham — prevents infection by capturing the bug in the nose and covering it in a coating from which it cannot escape, The Telegraph reported. As a result, it would be safe for someone to exhale near another person because the virus would be inactive and harmless, the outlet said. Dr. Richard Moakes, the study’s lead researcher, said he was confident that the spray will be able to put an end to social distancing restrictions and “get schools going again.” “We think it will help in schools, as one of the good th...

Spike Lee compares Donald Trump to Hitler | Film – The Guardian

Spike Lee has likened Donald Trump to Hitler in an acceptance speech at a film critics awards show, adding that “the whole world is laughing at the United States”. The director made his comments when he accepted a special award from the New York Film Critics Circle for his short film New York, New York. The film was released in May 2020 and Lee described it as a “love letter to its people”. Lee said the comments about the Trump were recorded on 6 January, the day of the Capitol breach, which he said was “a very sad day in the history of America”. “We are living in a very serious time in America,” said the director. “His president, President Agent Orange, will go down in history with the likes of Hitler … all his boys, they are going down on the wrong side of history.” Lee has a history o...

Two emergency medical technicians, the patient, the gurney — and an unseen and unwelcome passenger lurking in the air. For EMTs Thomas Hoang and Joshua Hammond, the coronavirus is constantly close. COVID-19 has become their biggest fear during 24-hour shifts in California’s Orange County, riding with them from 911 call to 911 call, from patient to patient. They and other EMTs, paramedics and 911 dispatchers in Southern California have been thrust into the front lines of the national epicenter of the pandemic. The...

Kim Kardashian neglects to thank former POTUS Donald Trump for commuting life sentence of convict – Daily Mail

Kim Kardashian has snubbed former US President Donald Trump after he granted clemency to an inmate despite working with him on prison reform during his presidency.  The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star neglected to publicly thank Trump for commuting the life sentence of Chris Young, who was released on Thursday. In an Instastory, the 40-year-old aspiring lawyer wrote that her 'heart was full' as she thanked the 32-year-old ex-con's attorney Brittany K. Barnes, Judge Kevin H. Sharp, REFORM Alliance CAO Jessica Jackson, and Alice Marie Johnson. The former president was noticeably absent from the list of people Kardashian  mentioned.  The reality star turned prisoners rights activist has worked with the White House on criminal justice reform issues since 2018, and has slowly gained a rep...
