Oregon reports 22 more COVID-19 deaths, 796 new cases – KTVZ

(KTVZ) -- There are 22 new COVID-19 related deaths in Oregon, raising the state’s death toll to 1,904, the Oregon Health Authority reported Tuesday. OHA also reported 796 new confirmed and presumptive cases of COVID-19 as of 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, bringing the state total to 139,355. Vaccinations in Oregon On Tuesday, OHA reported that 17,422 new doses of COVID-19 vaccinations were added to the state immunization registry. A more contagious strain of coronavirus was detected for the first time in Alaska, health officials announced Tuesday. In December, an Anchorage resident became infected with a strain of virus that was originally detected in the United Kingdom and can spread more easily between people, the state’s health department said in a statement Tuesday afternoon. The Anchorage resident was recently in a state where the virus variant had previously been detected, according to the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services. Hawaii Department of Health officials today reported 71 new coronavirus infections, bringing the state’s totals since the start of the pandemic to 25,339 cases. There were no new deaths reported today, but on Monday the Health Department added 60 additional coronavirus-related deaths to the statewide tally that now stands at 401. However, Health Department officials this morning revised the total additional deaths down to 59 after a “data cleaning process.” Health officials uncovered the additional deaths after a review of the department’s Electronic Death Registration System, Health Director Dr. Libby Char said in a news release.
