Amir Hamja | Bloomberg | Getty Images A lot has changed in the entertainment industry in 2020. With the surge in coronavirus cases has come an increased uneasiness from audiences, truncated theatrical windows and a stronger focus on streaming than ever before. But, there's one thing that has remained the same: the symbiotic relationship between studios and movie theaters. "Studios and exhibition have always had a lovely but contentious relationship," one movie theater operator with locations in the southern part of the U.S. said on condition of anonymity. "Exhibition is basically a business that has blank screens and empty seats and we can't do what we d...

Prince William and Prince Harry will be at odds over Diana photo, expert claims – Page Six

Prince William and Prince Harry are heading into another deep freeze in 2021, a royal observer predicts — this time over their late mother, Diana. Harry’s decision to post a boyhood picture of himself with Diana on Archewell, the new website for the nonprofit he founded with wife Meghan Markle, is sure to upset William, the Sun reported, citing expert Phil Dampier. On top of that, Harry opens a short note to 2021 with “I am my mother’s son,” which William will think exploits Diana, Dampier told The Mail. “I think William will be slightly worried if Harry uses Diana for any of his charitable or commercial ventures without consulting him, and I don’t think he would be happy if Harry appears to be exploiting his mother’s iconic status,” he said. “It’s a...

Some Covid Survivors Haunted by Loss of Smell and Taste – The New York Times

Michele Miller, of Bayside, N.Y., was infected with the coronavirus in March and hasn’t smelled anything since then. Recently, her husband and daughter rushed her out of their house, saying the kitchen was filling with gas. She had no idea. “It’s one thing not to smell and taste, but this is survival,” Ms. Miller said. Humans constantly scan their environments for smells that signal changes and potential harms, though the process is not always conscious, said Dr. Dalton, of the Monell Chemical Senses Center. Smell alerts the brain to the mundane, like dirty clothes, and the risky, like spoiled food. Without this form of detection, “people get anxious about things,” Dr. Dalton said. Even worse, some Covid-19 survivors are tormented by phantom odors that are unpleasant and often noxious, li...

Pharmacist arrested on charges of sabotaging Moderna COVID vaccine doses – The Jerusalem Post

A Wisconsin hospital pharmacist was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of sabotaging more than 500 doses of coronavirus vaccine by deliberately removing them from refrigeration to spoil, police and medical authorities said. The pharmacist, an employee of Aurora Medical Center in Grafton, Wisconsin, at the time that 57 vials of vaccine were found left out of cold storage earlier this week, has since been fired but has not been publicly identified, officials said. Each vial contains 10 doses. Nearly 60 of the doses in question were administered before hospital officials determined the medication had been left unrefrigerated long enough to render the vaccine ineffective. The remaining 500-plus doses were then discarded. Moderna Inc, maker of the vaccine, has assured the hosp...
