Geoff Johns Still Working with WarnerMedia, Despite Ray Fisher’s Claim Writer Is Leaving Studio (EXCLUSIVE) – Variety

Writer-producer Geoff Johns has multiple projects at WarnerMedia and remains working with the company, despite a claim from actor Ray Fisher that Johns will be parting ways with WarnerMedia following the company’s investigation into Fisher’s allegations of misconduct on “Justice League,” multiple sources confirm to Variety. According to WarnerMedia, more than 80 people were interviewed during the “thorough” investigation. On Thursday, Fisher posted a Twitter thread disputing a report that Fisher “publicly resigned” from playing the role of Cyborg for DC Films after Fisher tweeted on Dec. 30 “I will not participate in any production associated” with current DC Films president Walter Hamada. And by Thursday, more than 132,000 people were hospitalized in the nation with covid-19, the disease caused by the virus. With more than 363,000 Americans dead since the start of the pandemic, the CDC’s most recent forecast predicts fatalities could stand between 405,000 an...

Coronavirus in Oregon: State reports 867 new cases, 10 new deaths as technical issues cause artificially low – OregonLive

The Oregon Health Authority on Thursday reported 867 new confirmed or presumptive coronavirus cases and 10 more fatalities as the state said, for the second straight day, that technical issues had deflated the case count. On Wednesday, the agency said the case count was lower than expected because of a server outage that affected the state’s database and the count was expected to return to normal soon. On Thursday, though, officials said “today’s case count is lower than anticipated because of technical issues,” but did not specify what the issue was. The Oregon Health Authority did not immediately respond to questions about how far off the count was or how long it would take to fix. Before the artificially low numbers, Oregon’s seven-day average had been climbing for the last week from...

Company that makes mahjong sets apologizes after critics say it game designs were culturally insensitive – CNN

The Mahjong Line started selling its limited-edition versions of the game -- with names like "The Minimal Line," "The Botanical Line" and "The Cheeky Line" -- in November for between $325 and $425. The Cheeky Line, for instance, replaces traditional Chinese symbols with bubbles, lightning bolts and has tiles decorated with bags of flour and a Whoopie cushion. The designs and the website's language didn't sit well with many people on social media, who said the removing the Chinese characters erases the cultural importance of the game. "My culture is one of the oldest civilizations in the world. It is a product of thousands of years of tradition and history. My culture not some cheap coloring book that can be filled-in and be 'made pretty' by the standards of privileged teenyboppers," wr...
