Press release from the Humboldt County Joint Information Center: A total of 2,263 county residents have tested positive for COVID-19, after 43 new cases were reported today.  In vaccine news, Public Health continues to prioritize vaccinations of residents in Phase 1A and those 75 and older due to the limited number of vaccines available. Vaccinations are currently provided by medical providers and by invitation to Public Health clinics. Public Health currently has the capacity to administer just over 200 vaccines a day, with 200 administered Wednesday, 210 Thursday and 204 today. ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- With so little of the vaccine to go around, who receives it can be very important. Here in Rochester, there are concerns about Mayo Clinic employees not in direct contact with COVID-19 patients being prioritized ahead of others in line for the vaccine. "We are following state and federal guidelines for who needs to be vaccinated. We are not going off guidelines," said Dr. Abinash Virk, Mayo Clinic infectious disease specialist. Riverside County on Friday opened registration for 16 new COVID-19 vaccine clinics through Jan. 22, but appointments were all booked up in less than two hours. County officials urged patience as local advocates for seniors and essential workers expressed frustration about the rollout.  First-come, first-served appointments foreligible essential workers and seniors were available online Friday afternoon. Clinics were set for Indio, Corona, Menifee and Beaumont and were quickly fully subscribed. Some who work with the elderly and agricultural laborers complained of technical and communication issues and raised questions about equity. SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg updated the community about the local response to COVID-19 in their daily briefing Friday evening. Nirenberg reported 143,503 total COVID-19 cases and 1,710 total deaths in Bexar County, an increase of 2,889 new cases. Six deaths related to the virus were confirmed on Friday. The 7-day moving average of cases is at 2,041, a significant increase and the highest its ever been since the beginning of the pandemic, Nirenberg said. While those numbers are a cause for concern, Nirenberg said that hospitalization numbers continued to show a slight improvement.
