Arthritis drug cuts COVID-19 deaths in hospitalized patients by two-thirds: study – New York Post

Coronavirus updates: Fauci says spring could bring return to normal; hospitalizations hit record level – USA TODAY

The nation could "start getting things back to relative normal" as soon as the spring if early testing on vaccines holds up and people agree to be vaccinated, the nations top infectious disease expert said Sunday. "If we get the overwhelming majority of people taking the vaccine... people can start thinking about doing things that were too dangerous just months ago." Dr. Anthony Fauci told CNN's "State of the Union." The encouraging words come as hospitals across the nation are strained by a record number of coronavirus patients and new infections have surpassed 100,000 each day for almost two weeks straight. The U.S. remains the global hotspot. Eleven countries have reported more than 1 million coronavirus cases since the pandemic began at the start of the year. The United States has rep...

That Pre-Thanksgiving Covid Test Wont Really Keep You Safe – WIRED

The plan sounds so reasonable on its face: We’ll all get together for Thanksgiving, but only after everyone—every last member of the family, no matter where they’re coming from or how they’ll get there—has had the chance to get a proper Covid test. It isn’t only for the holidays. For months now, I’ve watched various acquaintances and their families decide to break the rules of social distancing in accordance with this same and suspect rule of thumb: It’s totally OK to meet up for a weekend trip ... as long as everyone has gotten tested; it’s fine to get together for a barbecue, or a visit with Grandma … just as soon as everyone has gotten tested. Let me put this as clearly as I can: As a means of eliminating risk in the midst of a pandemic, the everyone-has-gotten-tested method is utterl...
