Mouthwash can kill COVID-19 in 30 seconds: Study – Aljazeera.com

Cardiff University study finds mouthwash containing 0.07 percent cetypyridinium chloride can combat coronavirus. Over-the-counter mouthwash can kill coronavirus within 30 seconds of exposure, a study has found. Scientists at Cardiff University discovered mouthwash containing at least 0.07 percent cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) showed “promising signs” of reducing transmission of the virus. Their preliminary report, which is yet to be peer-reviewed, supports a study published last week that found mouthwash containing CPC helps in reducing the viral load of people infected with the coronavirus. It comes ahead of a clinical trial on patients at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff to find out whether mouthwash can reduce coronavirus in a patient’s saliva. The findings are ex...

Wine & Dine Text by Shirin Mehta “If they cannot have bread, let them eat cake!” Each time that I read this admittedly cliched misquote that the last French queen, Marie Antoinette, apparently never actually said, I think to myself, “Wouldn’t I just love to have them both?!” Greedy? Not so much! Just that there is something so life-affirming about the sight and smell of bread, that a fresh, fragrant loaf will make your spirits rise as surely as the yeast makes the dough rise to a sunny, earthy, golden hue. And as for cake…do I need to say anything more? Soft, gooey, crunchy, melty, pillowy, in all its various forms, cake, well, is just cake. Scrumptious, celebratory and guaranteed to ignite a state of happiness. Well, the good news is th...

Taylor Swift blasts new sale of her catalogue for benefiting Scooter Braun: ‘It’s a shame’ – The Washington Post

Now, she said on Monday, Braun was selling her chart-topping catalogue to a private equity firm. But rather than celebrating, Swift was fuming about the deal again. After learning that Braun would still profit off her work under the terms of the deal, Swift announced Monday that she had already begun rerecording her first six albums in an attempt to regain independence from the executive whose name alone regularly left her in tears. As first reported by Variety, the new deal by Shamrock Holdings for Swift’s master recordings is believed to be for more than $300 million. The value from those first six albums could eventually reach as high as $450 million, according to the outlet. In a post on Twitter, Swift published a copy of a letter she sent to Shamrock Holdings last month informing t...

Coronavirus updates: Hawaii clarifies statewide mask mandate; Alaska loses over 3,000 gas and oil jobs amid pandemic; 247K US deaths – USA TODAY

Facing spiraling coronavirus numbers and with a contentious Election Day now in the rearview mirror, Republican governors are lining up behind their Democratic colleagues in tightening restrictions aimed at taming the pandemic. Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds' plan, effective Tuesday, requires everyone 2 and older to wear a face covering when in an indoor space open to the public. Reynolds also limited bars and restaurants to 6 a.m.-10 p.m., except for carryout and drive-through service. Ohio's Mike DeWine, West Virginia's Jim Justice, Utah's Gary Herbert and North Dakota's Doug Burgham, Republican governors all, have issued mask mandates in recent days. California, New York, Michigan, Virginia and Hawaii are among Democratic-led states that have toughened restrictions in recent days. Reynolds, li...

Alex Trebek Asked Ryan Reynolds To Be On “Jeopardy” Again Before He Died – BuzzFeed

"It’s absolutely gut-wrenching.” The day after Trebek's passing, Ryan Reynolds took to Twitter to honor him while revealing his cameo in Reynolds' upcoming Free Guy. Alex Trebek was kind enough to film a cameo for our film Free Guy last year despite his battle. He was gracious and funny. In addition to being curious, stalwart, generous, reassuring and of course, Canadian. We love you, Alex. And always will. 05:51 PM - 08 Nov 2020 @VancityReynolds / Twitter While promoting The Croods: A New Age in an interview with Extra, Reynolds opened up about his fi...

A Nation Turns to Pizza

During tough moments in our nation’s history, pizza has always been there. American soldiers stationed in Italy during World War II ate pizza in droves, introduced to the GIs through local street vendors. When President Barack Obama and his Cabinet were hunkered down in the Situation Room during the 2011 Osama bin Laden raid, they ordered pizza to get through the night. Amid the 2008 economic crisis, pizza parlors posted booming sales. “It is the thing that people go to in times of need,” says Scott Wiener, the director of Slice Out Hunger, a nonprofit dedicated to providing hunger relief in the form of pizza.  Now, during a once-in-a-generation pandemic, pizza is once again answering the call. Slice, a quickly growing app that runs takeout and d...
