MURRAY — Intensive care unit bed utilization across all Utah hospitals is currently at 88%, according to the state health department's Monday report, while ICU beds are 92% occupied at the 16 Utah hospitals best equipped to care for COVID-19 patients. "When 85% capacity is reached, Utah will be functionally out of staffed ICU beds, indicating an overwhelmed hospital system," the state's coronavirus website states. San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg and Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff updated the community about the local response to COVID-19 in their daily briefing Monday night. Nirenberg reported 74,591 total COVID-19 cases and 1,335 total deaths in Bexar County, an increase of 709 new cases as of Monday. No new deaths were reported today. The 7-day moving average of cases is 549. City officials also reported that 509 patients are hospitalized, 171 are in the intensive care unit and 80 are on ventilators. A recent study determined that people over 45 years old are at greater risk “than ever before” of contracting sexually transmitted infections (STIs) due to stigma surrounding middle-aged and older individuals having sex.  The University of Chichester, along with researchers from the U.K., Belgium and the Netherlands, found that negative views toward discussing sexual health and a general lack of knowledge contribute to some older people being unaware of the risks of unprotected sex.  “OVER-45s are at a higher risk of contracting STIs than ever before because of society’s unwillingness to talk about middle-aged and older people having sex, a new report has found,” the study concluded, according to the release.
