Saturday Oct. 31 COVID-19 update: 4 deaths, 306 new cases in Douglas County – WOWT

(WOWT) - Here is a summary of new cases and other COVID-19 stats reported today by health officials across Nebraska & Iowa. The Douglas County Health Department has reported 306 new cases on Saturday and four deaths. The deceased are three men over the age of 75 years old and one man in his 60s. The community total is now 23,092 positive cases. The death toll is now 235. To date, there have been 15,497 recoveries reported. The United Kingdom, which has the biggest official death toll in Europe from COVID-19, is grappling with more than 20,000 new coronavirus cases a day and scientists have warned the “worst case” scenario of 80,000 dead could be exceeded. Archival footage of The Rolling Stones performing their 1968 track ‘Sympathy for the Devil’ live in concert for the first time has been uploaded online. Landing on US label ABCKO’s YouTube channel earlier this week, the video is a previously unreleased cut from the band’s 1996 Rock and Roll Circus concert film that didn’t make it into the final version. The footage features the outfit’s original lineup as it was when the performance was initially filmed in 1968, comprising Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Bill Wyman, Charlie Watts, Ian Stewart and Brian Jones. Gospel Star Bishop Rance Allen Dead at 71 – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

Gospel star Rance Allen, whose Rance Allen Group drew upon contemporary sounds for such 1970s hits as “Ain't No Need of Crying” and “I Belong To You" and anticipated such crossover gospel artists as the Winans and Amy Grant, has died at age 71. Allen's wife, Ellen Allen, and manager Toby Jackson announced in a joint statement that Allen died early Saturday while recovering from a “medical procedure” at Heartland ProMedica in Sylvania, Ohio. Dave Chappelle is to host next week’s Saturday Night Live. The comedian will front the NBC show’s sixth consecutive show of the season on November 7. It marks Chappelle’s first role hosting the show since he made his debut the weekend that Donald Trump became President. During that show, Chappelle took the news head on and wished the former host of Celebrity Apprentice luck, adding, “I’m going to give him a chance, and we, the historically disenfranchised, demand that he give us one too”. Arizona sees biggest rise in virus cases, deaths in months – ABC15 Arizona

Arizona’s coronavirus outbreak has worsened as the state reported about 1,900 new cases and 45 deaths, the biggest spikes in months. The rise in the number of confirmed infections Saturday is the largest single-day increase since Aug. 1, and the deaths are the most reported in one day since Sept. 3. The state was a national COVID-19 hot spot in June and July. Infections and related hospitalizations declined before beginning to gradually increase again in September. Hospitalization rates in late October have started to reach levels last recorded in late May.
