A North Texas man hopes sharing his experience with COVID-19 while he recovers in the hospital will encourage others to take the virus seriously. Andre Terry, a father and Dallas-based designer, is being treated at Baylor Scott & White in Irving after he tested positive for COVID-19 last Saturday. Doctors have since confirmed he also has pneumonia, Terry said. As the number of new coronavirus cases continued to rise in Los Angeles County, health officials Friday issued a temporary and limited stay-at-home order that will take effect Monday. The restrictions, which will last for three weeks, are not as severe as those imposed in the spring. “Residents are advised to stay home as much as possible and always wear a face covering over their nose and mouth when they are outside their household and around others,” the county public health department said. The order prohibits all public and private gatherings with individuals not in the same household, except for religious services and protests. Santa Clara County tallied a record 512 COVID-19 cases in a 24-hour period the day before Thanksgiving, and wasted no time cracking down on businesses violating health orders. As of Nov. 27, Santa Clara County had 32,985 COVID-19 cases and 545 deaths. In addition, 222 people were hospitalized with the virus. Of these, 68 were in intensive care units and 193 out of 624 ventilators were in use.
