Elmhurst mayor to Pritzker: Restaurants will not survive restrictions – Chicago Daily Herald

Elmhurst Mayor Steve Morley is calling on Gov. J.B. Pritzker to lift a ban on indoor dining as DuPage and Kane counties could face a new tier of tighter restrictions in an effort to slow a surge in COVID-19 infections and hospital admissions. Morley has joined several suburban mayors in pushing back against the shutdown on indoor bar and restaurant service. If imposed, the next level of mitigation measures would limit outdoor seating at bars and restaurants to six people per group.                                                                                                                                                    ...

Flu hospitalizations trend down nationwide as COVID-19 continues to overwhelm hospitals – KSL.com

SALT LAKE CITY — As COVID-19 cases continue to overwhelm health care systems nationwide, with Utah's current hospitalizations hitting 389 as of Thursday, flu cases have been reportedly low across the nation. There are no patients currently hospitalized in the Beehive State with the flu, according to the most recent Utah Department of Health data from Oct. 24, and seasonal influenza activity across the U.S. remains low, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. "If somebody has signs and symptoms of COVID-19 and they test negative, in my mind, that's still COVID-19," Intermountain Healthcare Dr. Eddie Stenehjem said in a recent Q&A. Respiratory virus surveillance across Utah within the Intermountain Healthcare system has shown there aren't any other viral respiratory...

Hear System of a Down’s First New Music in 15 Years, ‘Protect the Land’ and ‘Genocidal Humanoidz’ – Rolling Stone

It took a war for System of a Down to record new music. After seeing the country of Azerbaijan start a conflict with Armenia in September, the musicians, who are all of Armenian descent, rushed into the studio to record two new songs, “Protect the Land” and “Genocidal Humanoidz,” to draw attention to the crisis in their ancestral homeland. The band will donate proceeds from the songs, which come out Friday, to aid Armenians, and it is soliciting fans to donate to the Armenia Fund, which provides humanitarian relief to the region. Both songs are available on the group’s Bandcamp page. Fifteen years have passed since the Grammy-winning alt-metal group released their last record, Hypnotize. When it came out, it was an instant hit, the second of two System albums to debut at Number One in...

Bariatric surgery not cosmetic procedure, tax tribunal rules – Mumbai Mirror

Dr Mohit Bhandari, a bariatric surgeon from Indore, had appealed against the service tax imposed on him, saying bariatric surgery was a life-saving procedure. The Larger Bench of the Customs Excise and Service Tax Appellate Tribunal (CESTAT), Delhi, ruled on Wednesday that service tax cannot be imposed on bariatric surgery as it is a life-saving procedure and not a cosmetic one. The tribunal stated that bariatric surgery is for people who have health issues such as type-2 diabetes, hypertension, sleep apnea and coronary artery disease, which stem from their excess weight, and is different from weight-loss procedures such as liposuction. The order was passed after Dr Mohit Bhandari, a bariatric surgeon who runs Mohak Hitech Speciality Hospital in Indore, moved the tribunal in 2015 agains...
