The Mandalorian season 2 episode 2 recap: Baby Yoda, Mando take a creepy detour – CNET

Baby Yoda is as curious as ever in The Mandalorian season 2 episode 2. Lucasfilm The Mandalorian season 2 continued on Disney Plus Friday, following last week's amazing season opener by bringing Mando and Baby Yoda on a different kind of adventure in episode 2. Something creepier, crawlier and froggy-er. Chapter 10, titled The Passenger, is a bit of a Marvel Cinematic Universe double whammy, since it was directed by Peyton Reed, the man behind Ant...

COVID-19 surge has Grosse Pointe, Berkley, Bloomfield Hills among school districts going all-remote – The Detroit News

As a surge of coronavirus cases impacts communities across the state, several Michigan school districts are weighing or have already pivoted entirely to remote learning to slow the spread. Michigan shattered its daily COVID-19 case record again Thursday, adding 5,710 and 51 deaths in a day, joining other Midwestern states reporting an explosion of cases. Friday's caseload is also expected to be large, marking the fourth consecutive week of record cases. Due to the rising number of positive cases in Grosse Pointe Public Schools, the district announced Friday it will also be pivoting back to remove learning for all students. System of a Down releases first new music in 15 years – CNN

But what makes this news significant is that it's been 15 years since the heavy metal band has dropped new songs. The two singles, "Protect the Land" and "Genocidal Humanoidz," made their debut on Friday, with proceeds from the music going to Armenia Fund, since the group's band members Serj Tankian, Daron Malakian, Shavo Odadjian and John Dolmayan are of Armenian descent. The group wrote about the meaning of the two songs on BandCamp: "These two songs, "Protect The Land" and "Genocidal Humanoidz" both speak of a dire and serious war being perpetrated upon our cultural homelands of Artsakh and Armenia." Adding, 'We're proud to share these songs with you and hope you enjoy listening to them. Further, we encourage you to read on to learn more about their origins and once you do...

Destiel (Sort Of) Became Canon And “Supernatural” Fans Are Shaking – BuzzFeed News

After 15 seasons and many long years of pining, filthy fanfiction, and debating fellow stans, Supernatural finally made Destiel canon. Destiel is, of course, the pairing of Dean Winchester and Castiel the angel. They have long (like, really long) been a fan favorite ship, one that was even teased and hinted at multiple times throughout Supernatural's run. But it's also been controversial, with many, many debates on places like Tumblr about the true intentions of the show's writers. The teasing has also often been called queerbaiting — a term that means dropping little bits of queerness for LGBTQ fans, but never fully committing so as not to upset anyone else. Now, as the show nears its series finale on Nov. 15, it has given fans what they wanted. Well, sort of. On Thursday's...

Aspirin being tested in coronavirus patients for potential treatment – Fox News

A common painkiller is being tested as a potential treatment for hospitalized coronavirus patients to see if it reduces the risk of blood clots, according to researchers. Aspirin, a known blood thinner, will be given to patients enrolled in the RECOVERY trial in the U.K., according to a news release. The researchers plan to give aspirin to about 2,000 patients in the trial in addition to standard-of-care treatment. The results will be compared with 2,000 patients who only receive standard-of-care treatment and assess for mortality after 28 days, as well as the impact on hospital stay and need for ventilation. Aspirin is also used as a pain reliever and to reduce fever or inflammation. (iStock) “We felt it was particularly important to add aspirin to the trial since the...
