In an emotional, late-night post shared across social media to her millions of followers, Teigen is pictured sitting up in her hospital bed with tears running down her face. Another photo posted to Instagram shows Teigen and her husband, singer John Legend, in the hospital bed holding the baby, whom the couple named Jack. “Jack worked so hard to be a part of our little family, and he will be, forever,” she wrote. “I’m so sorry that the first few moments of your life were met with so many complications, that we couldn’t give you the home you needed to survive. We will always love you.” Legend added, “We love you, Jack.” It’s unclear whether the baby was stillborn or died shortly after birth. Teigen said earlier in the week on Instagram that she was about halfway through her pregnancy. ...

Seagram’s heiress Clare Bronfman sentenced to almost seven years in prison in NXIVM sex trafficking case – The Washington Post

Even after pleading guilty last year to conspiracy to conceal and harbor aliens for financial gain and fraudulent use of personal identification information — and after learning about Raniere’s secret group called DOS that was designed to coerce and groom women into having sex with him — Bronfman has stood by NXIVM’s leader. “NXIVM and Keith greatly changed my life for the better,” Bronfman wrote to the judge before her sentencing. On Wednesday, a judge for the Eastern District of New York sentenced Bronfman, 41, to six years and nine months in prison, a ruling that was notably longer than prosecutors had requested. In a lengthy reading of her sentence, Judge Nicholas G. Garaufis said her “crimes were not committed in a vacuum” and said he could not ignore her “close relationship with R...

When cancer isnt the only deadly risk: Battling depression post-treatment – CNN

It took about a month of biopsies, more mammograms, MRIs, ultrasounds and genetic testing in my suburban Chicago hospital before I was diagnosed with stage I breast cancer. I then had a unilateral mastectomy, followed months later by reconstructive surgery. I was lucky that my type of cancer responds well to hormone therapy, with no chemotherapy or radiation. Despite my excellent prognosis and low chance of recurrence, my breast cancer almost killed me. That's because although my medical team did an excellent job getting rid of the cancer, I was left to my own devices with the surprise bout of depression that took its place. As frightened as I was during the initial call with my doctor, where she informed me that I had cancer, I had little time to think during the month-long flurry of t...

India’s First Birth Photographer Gets Back To Work

Verve People What drew you to birth photography? It was the fact that such a life-changing moment was not being properly captured in India. Despite living in the second-most populated country, we aren’t able to see what birth really means. And with all the birth pictures taken around the world, it was sad to not come across Indian artists behind any of them – this really made me think hard and got me excited about this field. Did you have any fears before getting started?Honestly, fainting – but more than that it was the overwhelming thought of entering the most sacred and medically sensitive part of a hospital; the LDR [labour, delivery and recovery room] or OT [operation theatre]. And I also had a slight fear about whether birth photography would really b...
