Bubonic plague infects boy, 3, in China: report – Fox News

A 3-year-old boy in China has been infected with bubonic plague, according to a report. The child, from Menghai county, located in Yunnan Province in southwestern China, suffered a mild infection but is now in stable condition following treatment, the Global Times of India reported. No other infections have reportedly been identified. The boy’s case came to light following a countywide screening for the disease, which was prompted after “three rats were found dead for unknown reasons in a village,” the outlet reported. Known as the “Black Death,” bubonic plague can be fatal in up to 90% of people infected if not treated, primarily with several types of antibiotics. An outbreak in the Middle Ages killed millions of people. COLORADO REPORTS FIRST HUMAN PLAGUE CASE SINCE 2015: OFFICIALS...

Peacocks Saved By The Bell reboot premieres on November 25th – Engadget

The gist this time around is that Zack faces some resistance after he closes too many underfunded high schools in California. He suggests sending kids who’ve been affected by the move to some of the more affluent schools in the state, including his alma mater, Bayside High. Hijinks, I assume, ensue. Zack, Kelly and Jessie all have kids at Bayside, where Slater is a PE teacher. It’s too early to tell whether the Saved By The Bell reboot will be good, but it at least has a strong pedigree behind the scenes. Tracey Wigfield, the mastermind behind the terrific Great News, is the creator and executive producer of the series.

Chadwick Boseman gave part of his 21 Bridges salary to Sienna Miller – The Guardian

Sienna Miller has revealed that the late actor Chadwick Boseman gave part of his own salary to boost hers when a film studio refused to meet her pay request. In an interview with Empire magazine, Miller praised Boseman’s act as “about the most astounding thing that I’ve experienced”. Miller starred alongside the Black Panther star in the action thriller 21 Bridges, on which Boseman was also a producer, after he pursued her to play the role of detective Frankie Burns. Tributes poured in last month when Boseman died at the age of 43, four years after being diagnosed with colon cancer. “He was a fan of my work, which was thrilling, because it was reciprocated from me to him, tenfold,” Miller said. “So he approached me to do it, he offered me this film, and it was at a time when I really didn...

‘The Lion King’ Sequel Set With ‘Moonlight’ Director Barry Jenkins To Helm For Walt Disney Studios – Deadline

EXCLUSIVE: The Walt Disney Studios has set Oscar winner Barry Jenkins to direct the studio’s follow-up to the 2019 blockbuster The Lion King. Jeff Nathanson, who scripted the last installment, is back in the fold and has completed an initial draft of script. Jenkins won the Oscar for scripting the Best Picture winner Moonlight and was nominated for adapting If Beale Street Could Talk (he directed both). The film will continue with the photo-realistic technology that director Jon Favreau used in the 2019 film and 2016’s The Jungle Book. There is no release date set for The Lion King follow-up or for the production start, but it is understandably a top priority for Sean Bailey’s division after the last film grossed $1.6 billion worldwide. The coronavirus has killed this many health care workers, according to countrys largest nurses union – Fox News

More than 1,700 health care workers have died of COVID-19 and related complications — after many of them said they didn’t have adequate personal protective equipment, according to the country’s largest nurses union. The report released by National Nurses United also found health care workers of color have been disproportionately affected by deaths and infections and there’s been a serious undercount of figures nationwide. “While this figure for all health care workers is higher than has been reported elsewhere, National Nurses United (NNU) believes it is a conservative estimate. These cases have been documented by NNU using media reports, social media, obituaries, union memorials, federal and state reporting, and NNU internal reporting,” the report states. “Comprehensive dis...

Two exotic tick species found in Rhode Island for the first time, officials say – Fox News

Two exotic species of ticks have been discovered for the first time in Rhode Island, state officials announced Monday. The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management said both Asian and Eurasian ticks were discovered on Block Island as part of a decade-long study of ticks on the island. "It was confirmed by DNA and morphological characteristics that they are ticks not previously found in Rhode Island," the agency said. HOW TO AVOID TICK-BORNE ILLNESSES The ticks were discovered by Danielle M. Tufts, a former associate research scientist at Columbia University. Tufts identified the tick species Haemaphysalis longicornis, also known as the Asian longhorn tick, and Haemaphysalis punctata when studying ticks on Block Island this summer. The ticks were originally thought to be ...

Rapper Lil Yachty arrested for driving 150 mph in Ferrari – The Associated Press

ATLANTA (AP) — Georgia State Patrol arrested rapper Lil Yachty this month after he was allegedly caught driving more than 150 mph (241 kph) on an Atlanta highway. Troopers pulled over a white Ferrari with the 23-year-old rapper, whose name is Miles McCollum, behind the wheel on Sept. 21, State Patrol said. An officer had followed the car after spotting it speeding and weaving in and out of traffic on the interstate near downtown, according to a State Patrol incident report obtained by news outlets. McCollum was taken to the Atlanta City Jail and charged with reckless driving and speeding, according to the agency. He has since been released. The recording artist totaled his red Ferrari in the same area in June after spinning out of control. Witnesses told investigators that the roads wer...
