Press release from the Humboldt County Joint Information Center: One new case of COVID-19 was reported today, bringing to 482 the total number of county residents who have tested positive for the virus. In related news, California Gov. Gavin Newsom today signed AB 685, which requires employers to notify employees within one business day if they were exposed to COVID-19 in the workplace. The law also requires employers to report cases directly to Humboldt County Public Health. While much of California continues to faces mass closures over the pandemic, Orange County remains in a less restrictive stage of the state’s reopening plan than most of Southern California. On Thursday, the health department recorded another four deaths of COVID-19 patients and 140 more cases. In total, 51,399 cases of the virus have been reported and 1,115 patients have died. Currently, O.C. remains in the red tier of California’s reopening plan, which allows more non-essential businesses to reopen indoors than the purple tier that Los Angeles, Ventura, Riverside and San Bernardino counties are in. Wrentham officials are urging the community to follow COVID-19 prevention guidance after a spike in cases, including at a nursing home.According to data shared by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health on Wednesday, there have been 15 new positive cases of the virus in Wrentham over the past two weeks, a higher number of cases compared to the previous two weeks.Town officials said most of the current positive cases belong to one “cluster” of cases tied to a single nursing home.
