The Kiss Song Thats a Rip Off of the Rolling Stones Brown Sugar – Showbiz Cheat Sheet

The Rolling Stones and Kiss are both classic rock bands with a certain swagger, so it only makes sense one of Kiss’ more famous songs was an intentional Rolling Stones rip off. In fact, the Kiss song in question was originally going to have a name similar to the Rolling Stones song which inspired it. However Kiss member Paul Stanley got in the way of that. He gave the world a hit song called “Tallahassee Lassie” in 1959. During a Rolling Stone interview, Mick Jagger said he wrote a groove for “Brown Sugar” which was reminiscent of the groove from “Tallahassee Lassie.” Because of this,...

How the Unpredictable Coronavirus Pandemic Took a Terrible Toll – The New York Times

Many of the country’s largest school districts are starting the year with remote instruction, but most states have at least some school districts, largely in rural or suburban areas, that have opened for in-person instruction. Schools in states like Georgia and Indiana have already been open for a month, but experts say they cannot yet be sure what the effect will be on virus transmission in communities. Bill Hanage, an associate professor of epidemiology at Harvard’s T.H. Chan School of Public Health, said that because of the huge variation in how schools are reopening — with some schools strictly enforcing social distancing and mask requirements and others doing far less — “we expect there to be quite a wide range in terms of consequences.” Already, a return to colleges and universities...

New UCLA Research Reveals Why Sleeping is So Important – NBC Southern California

A dramatic change in the purpose of sleep occurs when children are about 2 1/2 years old -- a time when sleep's primary purpose changes from brain-building to brain maintenance and repair, according to a study released Friday by researchers at UCLA. “Don't wake babies up during REM (rapid eye movement) sleep. Important work is being done in their brains as they sleep," said Gina Poe, the senior study author and a UCLA professor of integrative biology and physiology who has conducted sleep research for more than three decades. Newborns spend about 50% of their sleep time in REM sleep, with that number falling to about 25% by the age of 10 and continuing to decrease with age. Adults who are older than 50 spend about 15% of their time asleep in REM, according to researchers. ...

Some people prefer to do weight training even in the afternoon. As per research, weight training in the evening might be the best option. This is because of the functioning of two hormones, which are believed to play an important role in muscle building: Cortisol and Testosterone. Cortisol, apart from other things it contributes to, also helps to regulate blood sugar level by breaking down muscle tissue when required. This process is called catabolism. On the other hand, testosterone helps to build muscle by utilising protein, which is referred to as anabolism. The level of both cortisol and testosterone are highest in...
