Mac Davis, Country Singer and Elvis Presley Songwriter, Dead at 78 – Rolling Stone

Mac Davis, the country music artist and songwriter behind some of Elvis Presley’s most indelible recordings, died Tuesday at 78. According to a tweet from his family on Monday, Davis became “critically ill following heart surgery in Nashville.” His manager confirmed the entertainer’s death in a statement. Born in Lubbock, Texas, in 1942, Davis would evolve into a country and Adult Contemporary crossover star with solo hits like “Baby Don’t Get Hooked on Me,” “Stop and Smell the Roses,” and “One Hell of a Woman.” In 1974, he was named Entertainer of the Year by the Academy of Country Music, beating out nominees like Loretta Lynn and Merle Haggard. President Trump and 2020 Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden clashed over the timing of a potential coronavirus vaccine on Tuesday, with Trump indicating a vaccine could become publicly available sooner than experts in his own administration have predicted. Perspective | Ask Amy: Long-ago struggle with bulimia reemerges decades later – Washington Post

I'm not sure if there is any help for people like me. Usually people with these problems are underweight and become hospitalized. Who would consider that I have an eating disorder? A friend I confided in asked if I had food allergies. No, I don't think so. I just hate food. Starving and Fat: Relapses of eating disorders are unfortunately common. This is one reason eating disorders are so challenging to treat. Stress, anxiety, work furlough and isolation related to the pandemic might have been triggers for you. You may remember this idea from your previous therapy: People trying to recover from an addiction (drinking, smoking, etc.) can succeed by avoiding their trigger. But we all have to eat to live. You are forced to confront the source of your distress every day. Any competent physi...

Bieber himself has called “Holy” the beginning of a “new era,” and he’s currently at work on recording a new studio album. (It’s “some of the best music I’ve made,” Bieber said in a livestream recently.) So, what might “Holy” suggest for the sound of the new project? On the new Billboard Pop Shop Podcast (listen below), the team discusses if the enlightened sound of “Holy,” where Bieber sings “the way you hold me … feels so holy” points to a specific genre or sound on the upcoming project. 3 scientists advice on how to protect yourself from COVID-19 – msnNOW

Over the past several months, there has been controversy over the way SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, travels from an infected person to others. While official guidance has often been unclear, some aerosol scientists and public health experts have maintained that the spread of the virus in aerosols traveling through the air at distances both less than and greater than 6 feet has been playing a more significant role than appreciated.  In July, 239 scientists from 32 countries urged the World Health Organization (WHO) to acknowledge the possible role of airborne transmission in the spread of SARS-CoV-2.  Three days later, WHO did so, stating that under certain conditions, "short-range aerosol transmission, particularly in specific indoor locations, such as crowded and ina...

Gabrielle Union and NBC -- home of "America's Got Talent" -- have reached a settlement after the actress accused the show of being a toxic workplace. In a joint statement obtained by Fox News on Tuesday, NBC and Union's reps said that they "reached an amicable resolution." "NBC Entertainment appreciates the important concerns raised by Gabrielle Union and remains committed to ensuring an inclusive and supportive working environment where people of all backgrounds can be treated with respect," read the statement. Union's accusations first plagued "AGT" back in November, when Variety dropped a bombshell report, claiming that Union had been ousted as a judge from the competition series after bringing concerns of an alleged toxic workplace to higher-ups. 'L.A.'S FINEST' PRODUCERS GABRIEL...
