Coronavirus mutation emerges that may bypass mask-wearing, hand-washing protections – Fox News

A new COVID-19 mutation appears to be even more contagious, according to a study — and experts say it could be a response by the virus to defeat masks and other social-distancing efforts. Scientists in a paper published Wednesday identified a new strain of the virus, which accounted for 99.9 percent of cases during the second wave in the Houston, Texas, area, the Washington Post reported. The paper, which has not been peer-reviewed, said people with the strain, known as the D614G mutation, had higher loads of virus — suggesting it is more contagious. Though the strain isn’t more deadly, researchers said it appeared to have adapted better to spread among humans. David Morens, a virologist at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said the findings sugges...

Matt Maeson Calls on Lana Del Rey for New Version of Hallucinogenics – Billboard

Matt Maeson's "Hallucinogenics" is already the ideal soundtrack for the feeling of losing touch, and now he's added Lana Del Rey to a new rendition of the track released on Friday (Sept. 25). Del Rey's ethereal vocals fit perfectly into the song's acoustic nature, trading lines with Maeson before they come together for the chorus. "Pushin' past the limit, trippin' on hallucinogenics / My cigarette burnt my finger 'cause I forgot I lit it," they sing in unison. The original "Hallucinogenics" is featured on Maeson's debut album, Bank on the Funeral. Listen to the Lana Del Rey version below.

Tory Lanez Addresses Megan Thee Stallion on New Album DAYSTAR – Pitchfork

Tory Lanez has released a new album called DAYSTAR, which is essentially a concept album about Megan Thee Stallion’s claim that he shot her in July. He claims on the album that he was “framed.” “How the fuck you get shot in your foot, don’t hit no bones or tendons,” he sings in “Money Over Fallouts.”  Throughout DAYSTAR, he repeatedly references the backlash against him (and includes samples of people talking about the incident), mentions Megan’s Instagram Live comments about him, and generally references “cancel culture.” He raps that he’s “innocent” on “The Most High” and makes several references to Megan’s management team at Roc Nation. On “Friends Become Strangers,” he alludes to his private conversations with Megan and responds to her claims about the night of the alleged shooting. ...

Sufjan Stevens: The Ascension | Review – Pitchfork

The title track on The Ascension is one of the best songs Sufjan Stevens has ever written. Accompanying himself on keyboard with a sad, pulsing melody, Stevens uses precise and empathetic language to address faith and hopelessness, regret and revelations. He shouts out a character from King Lear. He rhymes “confess” with “confess.” He declares life to be meaningless—and he sounds like he means it. “To think I was acting like a believer,” he sings in his feathery, heartbroken way, “when I was just angry and depressed.” It is the only song on the album that fits squarely into his comfort zone, where questions of life and death feel as intimate as the words to a love song. Also worth noting: It takes more than an hour to get here. Along the way, there are slow jams and dancefloor singalong...

Too much diphenhydramine (Benadryl), can lead to severe health problems, including serious heart problems, seizures, coma and even death. The FDA cited reports of teenagers ending up in hospital emergency rooms or dying after participating in the so-called "Benadryl Challenge," on the social media platform TikTok. "We are investigating these reports and conducting a review to determine if additional cases have been reported," the agency said in a news release. The FDA said it had contacted TikTok and "strongly urged" it to remove videos of the "Benadryl Challenge" from its platform and to monitor for any new posts. "Health care professionals should be aware that the 'Benadryl Challenge' is occurring among teens and alert their caregivers about it," the agency said. Benadryl is an...
