R. Kelly Attacker Confesses, Singer Requests Release on Bail – Billboard

An inmate claims he was "forced" to assault Kelly "in hopes of getting spotlight attention and world news notice to shed light on the government corruption." R. Kelly is asking a judge to release him on bail after he was attacked last week by an inmate. In a motion filed Friday (Sept. 4), Kelly’s attorney Michael I. Leonard says not only did the Bureau of Prisons not protect his client, but also that personnel at the facility actually encouraged the inmate to attack the singer. As proof, Leonard presented to the judge a handwritten motion from inmate Jeremiah Farmer confessing to the attack. In the motion, titled “The Government Made Me Attack R-Kelly,” Farmer said after he told a mental health professional at the facility of his plan to attack Kelly, the person encouraged h...

Hospitals wary of FDA guidance on plasma treatments for coronavirus – Fox News

Doctors are considering joining a clinical trial to test the effectiveness of convalescent plasma treatment against the coronavirus rather than relying on government guidance that allows a broader emergency use of the technique right now. PROMINENT US DOCTORS BREAK DOWN WHICH CORONAVIRUS TESTS WILL CURB TRANSMISSION RATES Despite the Food and Drug Administration's permission in August to use convalescent plasma on COVID-19 patients, doctors remain concerned that science doesn't fully back the effectiveness of the treatment and worry that President Trump pressured the agency into approving its usage. Trump praised the “powerful therapy," which has been administered to more than 77,000 COVID-19 patients in the U.S., but scientists from the National Institutes of Health declared that it ...

Vitamin D deficiency may increase coronavirus risk, study says – Fox News

Low vitamin D levels may increase risk for coronavirus, according to a retrospective study. Researchers at the University of Chicago Medicine found those who were deficient in vitamin D (< 20ng/ml) and not treated, were nearly twice as likely to test positive for COVID-19 compared to those who had sufficient levels. “The relative risk of testing positive for COVID-19 was 1.77 times greater for patients with likely deficient vitamin D status compared with patients with likely sufficient vitamin D status, a difference that was statistically significant,” the authors stated in the recently published study in JAMA Network Open. The study looked at 489 patients whose vitamin D levels were measured within the year before being tested for novel coronavirus. Those patients with levels cate...

Large Study Finds Link Between Hair Dye And a Certain Type of Breast Cancer – Gizmodo

A salon worker using a curling iron.Photo: Justin Sullivan (Getty Images) A new large population study looks to clarify the theorized connection between hair dye and cancer. The study found no link between ever using hair dye and an increased risk of most types of cancer in women. However, it did find a possible relationship between hair dye and certain forms of breast cancer, ovarian cancer, and the most common kind of skin cancer—links that “warrant further investigation.” The study, published in the BMJ this week, looked at data from another research project, called the Nurses’ Health Study. That study has kept track of volunteers’ health and lifestyle habits since 1976, with questionnaires sent out and returned every two or four years. More than 120,000 women between the ages of...

The video launched on the same day as her coveted makeup collection. And in the middle of taking viewers through her day-to-night makeup routine, she pulled out the one product they've famously seen her wear in the "Ice Cream" music video with her K-pop collaborators BLACKPINK. "The lip soufflés are so yummy, they are so smooth," the Selena + Chef star exclaimed in the video. "So normally I use my signature red. Jay Cutler uses mini-cow video to address Tomi Lahren romance rumors – New York Post

Jay Cutler found a unique way to combat rumors he has started a relationship with Fox Nation host Tomi Lahren. The former Bears quarterback posted a brief video on Instagram of him combing the hair of one of his beloved mini-cows with the caption: “Only lady in my life. Be better internet.” The internet, however, preferred the much juicier storyline that Cutler had moved on from Kristin Cavallari — after the couple announced they were divorcing in April — with Lahren. Cutler, 37, has posted often about his mini-cows since his glorious return to Instagram. He briefly scrubbed his account after Cavallari posted a photo with her former “Laguna Beach” flame Stephen Colletti. The 28-year-old Lahren, who called off her engagement to Brandon Fricke in April, went with a more str...

Research group Trump administration previously touted releases dire COVID-19 death toll projections – NBC News

Nearly three million people will “most likely” die of COVID-19 worldwide by the end of the year if governments don’t tighten social distancing requirements and people aren’t more vigilant about wearing masks, a research outfit the Trump Administration once relied on is warning. The death toll in the U.S., which is currently around 188,000, could more than double to over 400,000 by Jan. 1, the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) at the University of Washington’s School of Medicine is forecasting. And that’s not even the “worst case” scenario the IHME laid out in its sobering report. In that model, four million people would die worldwide and over 620,000 perish in the U.S. from COVID-19, the researchers concluded. In the “best case” scenario, two million people will ...
