The number of confirmed cases of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in Michigan has risen to 106,215 as of Saturday, including 6,534 deaths, state officials report. Saturday’s update represents 838 new cases and 8 additional deaths. That is up from 105,377 cases and 6,526 deaths reported Friday. The deaths announced today include 3 deaths identified during a Vital Records review. Michigan reported 80,678 recoveries today. The state also reports “active cases,” which were listed at 22,000 on Thursday . Michigan’s 7-day moving average for daily cases was 637 on Thursday. The state’s fatality rate is 6.2 percent. SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Department of Health is reporting 433 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state and two new deaths from the disease Saturday. That brings Utah's totals to 54,272 confirmed cases and 420 deaths since the pandemic began. The total number of deaths in the state increased only by one Saturday, but health department spokesperson Charla Haley explained that one Salt Lake County long-term care facility resident, who was previously counted, has been removed from the total after further investigation.
