Intermittent fasting doesnt help you lose weight, UCSF study suggests – CNBC

For seven years, Dr. Ethan Weiss, a cardiologist at The University of California, San Francisco, has experimented with intermittent fasting. The health fad, which restricts eating to specific periods of time, hit the mainstream after a series of promising studies in mice suggested that it might be an effective weight loss strategy in humans.  So Weiss decided to give it a try himself by restricting his own eating to eight hours per day. After seeing that he shed some pounds, many of his patients asked him whether it might work for them.  In 2018, he and a group of researchers kicked off a clinical trial to study it. The results, published on Monday, surprised him.  The study found "no evidence" that time-restricted eating works as a weight loss strategy.  People who wer...

Cadaver dogs to search Carole Baskins missing husband Don Lewis’ lake house, ex-detective says – Fox News

The story of “Tiger King” star Joe Exotic and his hunch that his rival Carole Baskin had an alleged hand in the disappearance and presumed death of her husband Don Lewis was taken up a notch on Sunday night during an Investigation Discovery special centered on the unanswered question of what happened to the tiger breeder and amateur pilot. Jim Rathmann, a retired homicide investigator, told Fox News that cadaver dogs were brought in to aid in the search near one of Lewis’ lake houses and said he can’t possibly fathom what his family might be going through nearly 25 years after Lewis went missing. “That area near the lake house is going to be explored further,” Rathmann said. “So there's a lot of information that we're going to reveal that that hasn't been heard and that a lot of peopl...

Mariah Carey is “on a quest” to find the long-lost “grunge” album she recorded in 1995 – The A.V. Club

Photo: Vince Bucci (Getty Images) A week after declaring that “THANKSGIVING IS CANCELED,” Mariah Carey has reemerged with her upcoming memoir’s most shocking revelation yet. In a tweet on Sunday, the singer says she would unwind from her 1995 Daydream sessions by moonlighting as an alt-rocker with the band Chick. As reported by Pitchfork, Carey wrote, produced, and sang background vocals on every song on Chick’s 1995 album, Someone’s Ugly Daughter, though she went uncredited at the time. “Fun fact: I did an alternative album while I was making Daydream,” she wrote. “Just for laughs, but it got me through some dark days.” Accompanying the tweet is a 40-second excerpt from the song “Hermit,” which she says features her backing vocals as a “hidden layer.” “I’m so happy yet thorough...

Coronavirus viral loads declining in US patients since start of pandemic, study finds – Fox News

The levels of the virus that causes COVID-19 has been declining in U.S. patients over time, which could account for the lower number of ICU admissions and overall death rate compared to when the virus first arrived, researchers claim. The study, conducted by Wayne State University researchers and presented at the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, relied on nasal swabs taken from hospitalized patients in Detroit between April 4 and June 5. They then assessed all samples that had tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 during that time period and found a progressive decline in the number of samples that were categorized as having a high viral load.
