Trump officials seek greater control over CDC reports on coronavirus – msnNOW

The emails, first reported late Friday by Politico, describe the CDC documents, widely known as the MMWR, as being “hit pieces on the administration.” Caputo confirmed the authenticity of the emails. The emails echo the sentiments from an earlier attack by Alexander, reported in The Washington Post in July, about an MMWR on the potential risk of the coronavirus to pregnant women. In that email, Alexander also accused the CDC of undermining the president. The emails are the latest evidence of how the nation’s top public health agency is coming under intense pressure from Trump and his allies, who are playing down the dangers of the pandemic ahead of the Nov. 3 presidential election. “Most often, the MMWRs are [issued] for purely scientific reasons,” Caputo said Saturday. “But in an elect...

After CDC study links virus risk to dining out, L.A. County says younger people still driving new infections – KTLA Los Angeles

After a new Centers for Disease Control and Prevention study suggested dining out may raise the risk of contracting COVID-19, Los Angeles County health officials reminded residents Saturday to limit non-essential activities — especially as younger people continue to drive the county’s latest infections. The CDC study published Thursday found that adults who tested positive for the coronavirus were about twice as likely to report dining at a restaurant than people who tested negative. The majority of adults who tested positive in the study were between the ages of 18 and 44 years old. “This serves a reminder to residents to minimize non-essential activities, like dining out, that puts them in close contact with people who aren’t in their household and creates risk of COVI...

The Boys Eric Kripke Responds to Review Bombing: Fans Should “Appreciate That It Was A Creative Choice” – ComicBook.com

Despite rave reviews from critics, the second season of The Boys was subject to a serious case of review-bombing the second the season's first three episodes were released. The streamer took a different approach this time around, debuting the first three episodes of the season before choosing to release the remaining five episodes on a weekly basis. The Boys creator and showrunner Eric Kripke has now broken his silence on the matter, suggesting fans should "appreciate" the fact it was a creative choice between him on the show's producers. “I get that people are disappointed and, frankly, looking back, we thought that we were communicating that we were weekly,” Kripke told TheWrap earlier this week. “Clearly, in hindsight, we had to do a lot more than we did to make sure that people were...

Redefining Covid-19: Months after infection, patients report breathing difficulty, excessive fatigue – CNN

Gahan, a clinical psychologist in Shrewsbury, United Kingdom, hasn't been able to return to work. The disease causes what she calls "storms," disabling periods when she feels shortness of breath, numbness in her hands and feet and her heart rate shoots up from simple tasks. Even taking a shower is possible only during an occasional respite in symptoms. "In May and June, I could barely talk because I was so ill," she said. Before contracting the disease in early April, the mother of two ran three times a week and had a regular yoga routine. "I can only walk as far as the corner," she said. "In terms of running, I can't imagine when that will happen, if ever." She is one of thousands around the world for whom Covid-19 has turned into a chronic condition. Gahan and other Covid-19 "lo...
