Bear wanders into California grocery store, leaves with bag of tortilla chips, video shows – Fox News

Bears need comfort food too. A brown bear apparently craving junk food crawled into a California grocery store and left with a bag of Tostitos chips in its mouth, as seen in video footage from the store. COMMUNITIES STAGING BEAR HUNTS TO ENTERTAIN KIDS DURING CORONAVIRUS OUTBREAK  The video was shot Tuesday night at a Safeway grocery store in Kings Beach on Lake Tahoe by a woman named Adina Baidoo who was walking out of the grocery store around 9:30 p.m. when she witnessed the sighting, according to CBS-affiliated KUTV 2. A fellow shopper apparently screeched when Baidoo very nearly (and unknowingly) walked right into the bear outside by a trash can. Baidoo then took the video of the animal eating garbage from what appeared to be a safe distance. The video was shot Tuesday ...

(CNN) -- The Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade will take place this fall, but it won't exactly look like it did in years past, according to a statement from the fashion retailer. "We are currently working with our partners in the City of New York to re-imagine the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in a similar fashion to how we successfully and safely produced this year's Macy's Fireworks," Orlando Veras, Macy's Inc. director of national media relations told CNN.

This simple tactic can trick your brain into feeling happier, researchers say – CNBC

Fake it 'til you feel it? That's what researchers at University at South Australia say could help when you're feeling down. According to a recent study published in the journal Experimental Psychology, researchers found smiling — even a fake smile — can have positive impact on mood. Essentially, triggering certain facial muscles by smiling can "trick" your brain into thinking you're happy. "When your muscles say you're happy, you're more likely to see the world around you in a positive way," Fernando Marolejo-Ramos, study author and human and artificial cognition expert at the University of South Australia, said in a press release. To conduct the study, researchers asked 120 participants (55 males and 65 females) to smile by holding a pen between their teeth, which forced th...

BTS’ New Song ‘Dynamite’ Is a Contender for Song of the Summer – Rolling Stone

Global superstars BTS are back with a bright and breezy new track that makes them instant contenders for “Song of the Summer” honors. The boy band unveiled their new song “Dynamite” Friday, marking the K-pop group’s first all-English release. The shimmery, disco-lite track bounces and grooves with an infectious beat and uplifting chorus you’ll be singing back after one listen. The three and a half minute track is one of the poppiest songs the group has released to date, and was written by David Stewart and Jessica Agombar, who most recently teamed up for the Jonas Brothers’ hit, “What a Man Gotta Do.” The new song finds the BTS members trading verses about bringing the party while name-dropping everyone from King Kong to Lebron James. A release says the song “aims to bring a new sur...

Lori Loughlin and husband, Mossimo Giannulli, to be sentenced Friday in college admissions scandal – CNN

"He engaged more frequently with Singer, directed the bribe payments to USC and Singer, and personally confronted his daughter's high school counselor to prevent the scheme from being discovered, brazenly lying about his daughter's athletic abilities," wrote US Attorney Andrew Lelling of Massachusetts in the detention memo released on Tuesday. "Loughlin took a less active role, but was nonetheless fully complicit, eagerly enlisting Singer a second time for her younger daughter, and coaching her daughter not to 'say too much' to her high school's legitimate college counselor, lest he catch on to their fraud." Because of the type of plea agreement that Loughlin, Giannulli and prosecutors entered into, the judge will have very little wiggle room to veer off the agreed-upon deal. Giann...

When should I get my flu shot this year? Everything to know about flu season during the coronavirus pandemic – USA TODAY

The message to vaccinate is not lost on Americans who are already calling their doctors and pharmacists to schedule a flu shot appointment before the start of the 2020-2021 season.  Experts say it's crucial to get vaccinated this season as it coincides with the ongoing coronavirus pandemic that continues to overwhelm hospitals in parts of the country and has taken the lives of more than 170,000 people in the U.S., according to Johns Hopkins data. It's hard to know for sure how COVID-19 will mix with this year's flu season: Will mask wearing and social distancing contain flu transmission as it's meant to do with SARS-CoV-2? Or will both viruses simultaneously wreak havoc on the nation as some schools reopen for in-person learning?  "This fall, nothing can be more important than to try to i...

Anderson Cooper tears MyPillow CEO open like a bag of chips – Boing Boing

Mike Lindell is the CEO of MyPillow. It's a pillow company! So, when he claims that oleandrin is an incredible breakthrough in the fight against COVID-19, you know you can trust him. But hey, if the medical opinion of a pillow company manager isn't enough for you, you can rest assured that supplement has been vetted by the FDA! Except, no. To all of this. Oleandrin is a poisonous plant that could maybe do something good for someone, somewhere, for something. Thus far, however, there's no peer-reviewed study of it being useful, in any capacity, in the fight against COVID-19. Then there's this thing where the Food and Drug Administration isn't responsible for reviewing supplements. Did I mention that Lindell was successfully dinged for one-million dollars for making ...
