IDAHO FALLS — Eastern Idaho Public Health has announced that a Bonneville County man is the latest COVID-19 death in eastern Idaho. The man, who was in his 90s, has not been identified due to hospital privacy laws. “We at EIPH share our deepest condolences with the family and friends of this individual for their loss,” EIPH Community Health Division Administrator James Corbett said. So far, there have been seven deaths in eastern Idaho since mid-March. Two in Bonneville County, two in Bannock County, two in Bingham County and one in Jefferson County. In a startling finding with disturbing implications for schools, 260 children and staff members tested positive for COVID-19 in an outbreak that spread in just days at a summer camp in northern Georgia, according to a study released Friday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It’s one of the largest known COVID-19 super-spreading events in the state. All counselors and campers “passed all mandatory screenings” and were required to have a negative COVID-19 test before attending the camp in late June, the study noted. WILL COUNTY, Ill. (WLS) -- The Will County Health Department is renewing warnings about hosting parties or large gatherings because they are very dangerous and lead to the spread of COVID-19, after multiple attendees of a private prom tested positive for the virus. The health department said contact tracers determined that multiple people who attended a private high school prom held in Northwest Indiana have now tested positive for COVID-19. The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health announced 69 more coronavirus-related fatalities on Friday. That’s much higher than the average number of daily COVID-related deaths reported last week, which was about 38. The new deaths increased the countywide death toll related to the pandemic to 4,624. County health officials have been warning about an anticipated increase in deaths, following a sharp increase in hospitalizations that began in mid July, roughly two weeks after the Fourth of July weekend.
