In the wake of its announced closure, Splash Mountain merchandise has proven to be wildly popular at the Magic Kingdom. But something unusual seems to be happening at the Briar Patch… The windows into the shop have been covered over in plastic. While the reason for this is currently unknown, it does suggest that it may be closed for a while. Splashdown Photos, located at the exit to Splash Mountain, has become a somewhat more reliable home for attraction merchandise, though items are quickly snapped up after being restocked. ‘The Simpsons’ Actor Harry Shearer Not In Sync With Show’s Decision To Stop Hiring White Actors For Characters Of Color – Deadline

The Simpsons actor Harry Shearer, who gives voice to characters ranging from elderly miser Mr. Burns to the unflappable African-American physician Dr. Julius Hibbert, isn’t quite in agreement with the long-running show’s recent decision to stop using white actors for non-white characters. “I have a very simple belief about acting,” Shearer said Monday during an interview on Times Radio. “The job of the actor is to play someone who they’re not.” The issue has been a source of debate with regard to Fox’s The Simpsons since Hari Kondabolu’s 2017 documentary The Problem with Apu and last year’s announcement by Hank Azaria, Apu’s portrayer, to step away from the role. Though Shearer pointed out that he was not “opining” on whether the producers’ recent decision was a mistake,...

Cinemark and Regal have more theaters than AMC and they dont want to shorten the theatrical window – CNBC

Front facade of Cinemark Paradise 24 movie theater in the style of an Egyptian temple in Davie, Florida, USA Holly Guerrio Last week, Universal struck a deal with AMC, the largest theater chain in the U.S., to reduce how long it must keep a film in theaters before making it available for on-demand viewing. The second- and third-largest chains, however, aren't looking to shrink the theatrical window. Under this new deal with AMC, Universal can send a movie to video on-demand 17 days after it is first released in theaters, a drastic change from the traditional 90-day delay. This new policy would allow Universal to punt an underperforming film from theaters to on-demand to capture an audience that wasn't willing to venture to theaters, but might be willing to p...

The Boys season 2 trailer promises a terrifying new fascist superhero – Polygon

How do you stop a legion of xenophobic, authoritarian caped crusaders? If you’re The Boys from the Amazon series The Boys, the answer is ... violence. Righteous violence. Amazon’s adaptation of Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s acclaimed comic is a pitch-black satire of a world in which the military–industrial complex has fused with popular culture to turn murderous comic book heroes into social media stars. Not that unfamiliar! And in the final trailer for The Boys season 2, due in September, we get a taste for how unchecked, capitalist fascism continues to spin out of control. Somehow, showrunner Eric Kripke (Supernatural) finds rooms for jokes. Season 2 finds ex-CIA operative Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) and his goon squad on the run from The Seven, this world’s version of the J...

The outbreak underscores the stark dangers facing the nation’s front-line public health army, the subject of an ongoing series by KHN and the AP, “Underfunded and Under Threat.” Mack’s coworker Rhonda Wallace, leader of a loc...

Macomb, Tuscola and Gladwin counties have all been marked as orange, which means that the coronavirus risk level is occurring at an "accelerated speed," according to the COVID Risk Levels Dashboard by the Harvard Global Health Institute. The website recommends a stay-at-home order and more testing and tracing in counties marked in orange. When it comes to Macomb County, as part of the metro Detroit tri-county area, there is a 7-day average of 101.6 new daily cases, according to the website.
