‘Late Show With Stephen Colbert’ Music Booker Fired Following Sexual Misconduct Allegations – Variety

Giovanni Cianci, music producer of “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” since 2017, has been let go from the show after a woman accused him of sexual misconduct in a 2010 incident, Variety has learned. “Gio is no longer employed by the show,” says a source with knowledge of the situation. Variety has reached out to Cianci and the show’s network, CBS, for comment. His exit follows a social media post from musician Paige Stark, who also spoke with Variety about the matter, alleging that an incident took place while Cianci was working at Lookout Management, where he was employed from 2002 through 2014. He had expressed interest in her band and the two met during the CMJ Music Marathon conference in 2010. She says he made advances toward her when the two were alone in an elevator,...

‘Mulan’ Going On Disney+ & Theaters In September; CEO Bob Chapek Says Decision Is “One-Off”, Not New Windows Model – Deadline

Refresh for updates: On Disney’s 3Q earnings call Tuesday, it was announced that Mulan is going to Disney+ on September 4. Specifically, Disney will be releasing the film theatrically in certain markets where the studio currently has no announced launch plans for Disney+ and where theaters are open (i.e., China). The concern with opening the film in some theaters worldwide and not others, was, of course, piracy-related. CEO Bob Chapek said during the company’s earnings call that it was important to find new avenues of distribution during the pandemic and that “in the U.S., Canada, New Zealand, and number of countries, we will be offering on Disney+, the epic Mulan on a premiere access beginning September 4, with the price point being $29.99 in the U.S.” Related Story ...

Obesity not defined by weight, says new Canada guideline – BBC News

Image copyright Getty Images Obesity should be defined by a person's health - not just their weight, says a new Canadian clinical guideline. It also advises doctors to go beyond simply recommending diet and exercise. Instead, they should focus on the root causes of weight gain and take a holistic approach to health. The guideline, which was published in the Canadian Medical Association Journal on Tuesday, specifically admonished weight-related stigma against patients in the health system. "The dominant cultural narrative regarding obesity fuels assumptions about personal irresponsibility and lack of willpower and casts blame and shame upon people living with obesity," the guidel...
