A nursing home in Carmichael has reported a total of 169 cases of coronavirus among residents and staff on Friday.Officials with the Whitney Oaks Care Center said it conducts weekly testing for all residents and staff. Overall, 94 residents and 75 health care providers have tested positive for COVID-19.Twelve of those residents died from coronavirus-related complications, the center said.Sixty-four staff members have since recovered, officials said. The remaining employees who tested positive for the virus are continuing to self-isolate.Officials said 54 residents have also recovered from the coronavirus. They add that 12 residents are in area hospitals in stable condition, and 13 others are in the facility’s COVID isolation unit with mild or no symptoms.“This incident underscores the cunningness of this virus, as well as the service and sacrifices made by our dedicated team every day.
