During London Fashion Week, I was invited to try out the Fashion Week cocktails after shows at the luxurious Dukes Hotel’s GBR restaurant. Located at a five-minute walk from Buckingham Palace, and located in the heart of Saint James’ Mayfair, the luxurious British hotel fabled for its hospitality is a favourite amongst fashionistas. It is frequented by the likes of US Vogue Editor, Anna Wintour, Olivia Firth, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Pippa Middleton.
Mayfair’s newly opened Great British Restaurant launched its collection of limited edition Fashion Cocktails to be available during the London Fashion Week from 15th to 24th September. So that is where I made my way to see the city’s most talked about all day dining experience for myself. The purpose of my visit was to try out the cocktails but I was tempted to try out something from the restaurant’s menu offers traditional British dishes with contemporary twists. However, I resisted and proceeded to try out each of the offered three cocktails in succession.
- The Jimmy Shoe Sour
Midori, Lemon Juice, Sugar Syrup, Egg White
- The Black Orchid Martini
Vodka, Espresso, Kahlua, Vanilla Extract, Gomme Syrup
- The Cosmotier
Vodka, Cointreau, Lime Juice, Cranberry Juice, topped up with Champagne
I treated my taste buds with all three cocktails which are priced £13.50 each, but The Jimmy Shoe Sour managed to outshine and become my favourite from the limited-edition collection. My friend who wished for a non-alcoholic cocktail was immediately served with one.
The atmosphere of the restaurant coupled with its kind staff left their mark on our minds. Sipping their more than amazing cocktails in the GBR’s amazing environment was the perfect retreat for us to unwind after a hectic fashion week day. The lovely staff served the cherry on top to serve us with additional snacks, nibbles, and even dessert.
Our experience although short, was a delightful one. The restaurant and staff didn’t disappoint in living up to their name.
Thanks to GBR and Dukes Hotel for hosting us 🙂
