Harry and Meghan change Archewell website homepage to display the names of 9/11 victims – Daily Mail

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have paid tribute to the victims of 9/11 on the 20th anniversary of the attack by changing their Archwell website to show the names of the almost 3,000 people that lost their lives. The Duke and Duchess' homepage was blacked out on Saturday with nothing but white text reading 'In Memoriam, September 11, 2001' followed by rows of the names of the victims. The attack on New York City on September 11, 2001 claimed the lives of 2,977 victims across four sites - the two World Trade Center towers, The Pentagon and where Flight 93 crashed in Pennsylvania. In addition, the 19 terrorists involved in the attacks on the day were killed. Their names were not included on the Archwell homepage memorial.  Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have paid tribute t...

Unvaccinated people 11 times more likely to die from COVID-19, CDC study shows – CBS News

Unvaccinated people were 11 times more likely to die from COVID-19 compared to those who were fully vaccinated, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported in a new study Friday, providing more evidence of  the vaccines' effectiveness at preventing severe disease, even as protection from mild breakthrough cases appears to be waning in the face of the Delta variant. "Looking at cases over the past two months when the Delta variant was the predominant variant circulating in this country, those who were unvaccinated were about four and a half times more likely to get COVID-19, over 10 times more likely to be hospitalized, and 11 times more likely to die from the disease,"  CDC Director Rochelle Walensky said at a briefing Friday. The CDC's latest data, published as three s...

Simu Liu Reveals Story Behind Pre-Fame Stock Model Photos That Have Now Gone Viral – HuffPost

Stock model photos of Simu Liu before he was famous are going viral following his star turn in the new Marvel movie “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.” Liu opened up about the images — for which he posed as a construction worker, Zumba class attendee, at work in an office and more — on Friday’s episode of “The Tonight Show.” The gig was a world away from the “international prestige” of the runway, he told host Jimmy Fallon. Liu worked for just one day and earned a flat $100 fee, he recalled. “They own the rights to the photos that they take in perpetuity, which is very, very important,” Liu further explained. “It means the rights never run out which means they could sell these photos and make millions and millions of dollars off of them and the talent would not see a single penny....

Not getting vaccinated against Covid-19 is like driving while intoxicated, one health expert says – CNN

"We need to start talking about the choice to remain unvaccinated as the choice to go out and drive intoxicated," CNN Medical Analyst Dr. Leana Wen told CNN's Wolf Blitzer. Wen's remarks come after the Biden administration announced Thursday a Covid-19 vaccine mandate plan that directs the US Labor Department to require all businesses with 100 employees or more to ensure their workers are either vaccinated or tested once a week. President Joe Biden also signed an executive order requiring all government employees to get their Covid-19 vaccine shots, with no option for regular testing to opt out. And while some Republican officials have criticized his move as overreaching, health experts say the President should have implemented stricter measures to curb the recent surge of Covid-19...

More US studies show COVID vaccines protect from serious illness – Al Jazeera English

The United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has presented data showing unvaccinated people are four-and-a-half times more likely to contract COVID-19 and 11 times more likely to die from it than those fully vaccinated. In a White House COVID-19 briefing on Friday, CDC Director Dr Rochelle Walensky said the data shows “vaccination works and will protect us from the severe complications of COVID-19”. The studies involved more than 600,000 COVID-19 cases, hospitalisations and deaths in 13 states, and large cities from April through mid-July. “Looking at cases over the past two months when the Delta variant was the predominant variant circulating in this country, those who were unvaccinated were about four-and-a-half times more likely to get COVID-19, over 10 time...
