"Saturday Night Live" star Michael Che responded after a sketch he wrote during Elon Musk’s May 8 episode was accused of cultural appropriation.  On Monday, the "Weekend Update" actor revealed he was the writer behind a sketch titled "Gen Z Hospital" that featured Musk and cast members Kate McKinnon, Mikey Day, Heidi Gardner, Ego Nwodim and Bowen Yang in the waiting room of a hospital as they waited to hear news about their injured friend and relative.  The gimmick of the sketch was that each person spoke almost entirely in slang phrases like "bestie," "Go off, king," "sis," "pressed," "bro," "cringe" and more. While the characters in the sketch were supposed to be synonymous with Gen Z culture, many were quick to note that most of the lines were phrases used in African American Vernac...

Welcome to the playoffs.  The top 17 contestants on "The Voice" laid it all on the line Monday during the first live show of the season, but not without some drama.  It started even before the first live performances of the evening, when host Carson Daly revealed the winner of the four-way knockout that between Team Blake Shelton's Emma Caroline, Team John Legend's Carolina Rial, Team Nick Jonas' Devan Blake Jones and Team Kelly Clarkson's Savanna Woods. The Voice Season 20 Live Playoffs commenced Monday, and although the season had gotten off to a slow start, this episode was surprisingly one of the strongest in recent Voice memory, with all but a few of the top 17 semifinalists delivering stellar performances. One of the night’s top moments came courtesy of Team Blake soul-pop belter Cam Anthony, who took all of the coaches to church and received a standing ovation for his dynamic rendition of Hozier’s “Take Me to Church.” But when Blake Shelton gushingly praised Cam, he (inadvertently?) threw shade at The Voice, proclaiming, “I've never had more people asking me about an artist on my team in 20 seasons of doing this show, man. You could be the first superstar that we launch off the show.” (Italics mine, of course.) Gee… the first, huh...
