Walker, Sanford Green, and Chuck Brown’s Harlem Renaissance-set comic book Bitter Root for Legendary Pictures. Set in the ‘20s, the book is about a family of monster hunters called the Sangeryes who are tasked with defending Harlem from supernatural threats, with Caitlin Rosberg referring to it as a “lively, beautiful comic about killing monsters” back in 2018. There are also some metaphors in play there, which could help lend this movie version some Get Out or HBO Watchmen energy (King starred in Watchmen!). On a similar note, Black Panther director Ryan Coogler is among the producers, as are King and the team behin...

US Doctors Watch Warily As Severe Covid Infections Target Children – NDTV

<!-- --> Hospitalizations for children with Covid-19 aren't falling as much as for those 18 and up. Pediatric researchers are investigating whether Covid-19 is becoming more severe for children now that variants are causing localized flare-ups, even as U.S. cases overall decline. By early April, the rate of Covid-19 cases in young kids and early teens began surpassing that of those 65 and older, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The latest CDC data suggest the trend is continuing. At the same time, hospitalizations for children with Covid-19 aren't falling as much as for those 18 and up. That has researchers concerned that variants may be affecting youths in new ways, including a rare inflammatory disease that has been linked to Covid-19 infection. "Th...

Edward Norton to bloody his beak in Knives Out 2 – The A.V. Club

Edward NortonPhoto: Astrid Stawiarz/Getty Images for SiriusXM Just yesterday, we learned that Dave Bautista had joined the cast of Rian Johnson’s Knives Out sequel on Netflix, an apparent “thank you” gift from Ted Sarandos to Bautista for choosing Army Of The Dead over The Suicide Squad, and now another famous person—arguably a more famous person—has signed on as well: Edward Norton, who, like Bautista and Knives Out’s Chris Evans, has been in at least one Marvel movie. Interesting! This news comes from Deadline, which naturally doesn’t know anything about who Norton might be playing or what the plot of the Knives Out sequel will be, but we know it’ll involve Daniel Craig returning as gentleman sleuth Benoit Blanc and some kind of mystery. There will probably be some cleverness to it ...

Tom Cruise says he stands by COVID-19 rant that went viral | TheHill – The Hill

Actor Tom Cruise is standing by his comments from a rant that went viral in December in which the "Mission: Impossible 7" star lashed out at crew members for breaching COVID-19 protocols while on set. Cruise in the leaked audio had admonished members of the film crew for breaking coronavirus precautions, threatening to fire them and saying, "I don’t ever want to see it again! Ever!" The actor said in an interview with Empire magazine that emotions got to him but that there was a lot at stake during the filming for the upcoming movie franchise installment. “I said what I said,” Cruise said in the magazine interview, according to the Los Angeles Times. “There was a lot at stake at that point.” “All those emotions were going through my mind,” he added. “I was thinking about the ...

Grimes Says Elon Musk “Killed It” On SNL – Stereogum

In the aftermath of the show, Cyrus posted some photos of herself with Grimes in her Princess Peach costume captioned “She’s not a princess. She’s a queen.” Now Grimes has shared the same pics with her own assessment of the experience. With preemptive apologies to her fans, who she believes the comment will upset, she says in an Instagram caption that “my beautiful E” killed it. Cyrus is “good live and so chill!” (On Twitter she adds that Miley is “extremely siqué at music and as a human.”) And in less exciting news, she leads off the Instagram caption by saying she was hospitalized for a panic attack Monday. Here’s the whole spiel: Forgot to post these cuz I somehow caused myself to have a panic attack and went to the hospital yesterday which tbh was quite scary and I suppose i...

House of Prime Rib admits its meat may have gotten people sick, amid deluge of complaints – San Francisco Chronicle

The House of Prime Rib has an issue with its flagship meat: The iconic San Francisco restaurant admitted on Tuesday that some of its prime rib may be connected to reports of foodborne illness. After a San Francisco Department of Public Health investigation last month and new reports swirling on social media this week, the more than 70-year-old restaurant said on Instagram that it “recently had an isolated issue with some of our prime rib which was immediately discovered and addressed.” Owner Joe Betz told the Chronicle that his team has been trying to determine what might be causing diners to fall ill, though he said none of the employees who eat the prime rib every Saturday have gotten sick. The restaurant has been fielding calls from upset customers and refunding meals whi...
