Bucatini all’Amatriciana Recipe

A Classic Roman Dish - Bucatini all'Amatriciana Like many of you, Meg and I watched the Stanley Tucci special on CNN called Searching for Italy. In the Rome episode, he has lunch at Armando Al Pantheon to enjoy their famous rigatoni all'amatriciana, one of Rome's famous pastas. I made it a little different and call it bucatini all'Amatriciana. Of course I had to run out and buy the ingredients so we could make it at home. Not a lot of ingredients and very simple to prepare and absolutely delicious. Let's look at some of the ingredients. Bucatini Bucatini is a pasta that looks a lot like spaghetti but it is thicker and has a whole running down through the strand. My kids like to say it looks like a straw made out of pasta.  If you lived in Naples, Italy, you would call...

Queen Elizabeth makes surprise appearance at opening ceremony of London train line – CNN

The monarch, walking with a stick, wore a bright yellow outfit and hat to visit the Elizabeth line, which is named in her honor. She was given a pre-paid Oyster travel card at the event at Paddington station, in west London, on Tuesday, but did not use the train line herself. The Queen attended with her son, Prince Edward, and was welcomed by British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and London mayor Sadiq Khan. The Elizabeth line is named after the British monarch. Andrew Matthews/Getty Images The 96-year-old monarch has been suffering from mobility issues and canceled several appearances in recent months, including the opening of Parliament last week. Opening Parliament is a key constitutional responsibility and can't happen without the monarch. The Queen had to delegate that responsib...

The last 10 years have seen festival openers from familiar faces including Baz Luhrmann, Woody Allen and Jim Jarmusch. Its fitting, then, that Michel Hazanavicius gets this year’s edition started with “Final Cut.” The French director has previously presented three films in competition at Cannes, including the 2011 silent-era homage “The Artist,” which went on to win five Oscars. “Final Cut” is a French-language remake of Shinichiro Ueda’s 2017 zombie comedy “One Cut of the Dead.” In a review for The New York Times, Elisabeth Vincentelli described the ...

‘Living with COVID’ in the Bay Area might mean coping with big swells in cases for years – San Francisco Chronicle

The tide of coronavirus infections rising over California, and the Bay Area in particular, in recent weeks offers a glimpse of what “living with COVID” may mean for a few years yet, health experts say, as the virus continues to evolve at breakneck speed. This springtime swell, coming so close on the heels of the winter omicron surge, underscores the challenges still facing the state and nation against a virus that is proving infuriatingly adept at causing widespread transmission, even in populations with high rates of community immunity due to previous infection and vaccination. “I never thought here, this far along, we’d have a tough road ahead still. But unfortunately we do, and we have to face it,” said Dr. Eric Topol, executive vice president of Scripps Research in La Jo...

Knowing the signs of a stroke and getting help quickly can make all the difference, experts say – CNN

A stroke is a serious medical event and can lead to disability or even death if not treated quickly, said Dr. Andrew Freeman, director of clinical cardiology and cardiovascular prevention at National Jewish Health. And they are common: Someone in the US has a stroke every 40 seconds, according to the CDC. US Sen. Chris Van Hollen, a Democrat from Maryland, announced Sunday that he had suffered a "minor stroke." That same day, Pennsylvania Lt. Gov. John Fetterman announced he was recovering after a stroke. In light of the news -- and National Stroke Awareness Month -- experts are urging members of the public to learn more about the signs of stroke, so they are able to identify them and get medical help early. What a stroke actually is "A heart attack is a heart attack, and a br...
