Whenever a person sits out in the sun for any length of time they may begin to notice some discomfort on their head. There are many sun protection hats perfect for older individuals and they can be kept right alongside the gardening gloves by the back door so they are never forgotten. Just because someone has lived a life free of skin cancer that doesn’t mean they can forget to protect themselves properly.
There are some designs that are specifically made with UV protection in mind. These are often advertised as being physician endorsed and superior to other sun protection hats. The bottom line is that any hat will help protect the head from sun damage.
If the hat you currently use in the sun is sheer, it’s probably time to think about investing in a hat that is made of something more substantial. Cowboy hats, baseball caps and bonnets for babies all offer protection. However if you are really concerned about the ill effects of the UV rays, purchasing one of the sun protection hats that has rated UV protection is certainly a good idea. What’s most important is that everyone in the family understands that when they go outside in the spring and summer months they do so with a hat on.
